The Project

The Reva and David Logan Center for Creative and Performing Arts, slated for opening in 2011, will be a venue for the artistic expression and multi-disciplinary inquiry, performance, and production of our faculty and students. The Center will house all or parts of four University programs in the creative and performing arts-visual arts, theatre and performance, music, and cinema and media studies. Though arts activity will continue to be ubiquitous on campus, the center is intended to collect significant portions of these four programs in one state-of-the-art facility, and thereby to open new opportunities for interdisciplinary creativity, research, and teaching.

Among the facilities slated to be in the Center are:

  • studio/classrooms, individual studios, and exhibition space for the visual arts;
  • rehearsal and shop areas as well as black-box theater space for theatrical production and performance-related teaching;
  • individual music practice and ensemble rehearsal rooms;
  • multi-purpose performance space;
  • a film vault and a lecture/film screening hall;
  • computer and editing labs;
  • state-of-the-art media classrooms
